GST rates: Royal Enfield Classic, Bullet, Himalayan, Thunderbird & Continental GT prices increased up to INR 4,399
The Royal Enfield Himalayan has seen the highest price hike of INR 4,399.
Post the implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax) in India; most bike manufacturers have reduced the prices of their range of motorcycles in India. However, Royal Enfield has seen a marginal price hike for its range of 350 cc motorcycles, while bikes above 350 cc have seen a substantial price hike of up to INR 4399 (on road, Pune). Under the new GST tax regime, bikes below 350 cc attract a tax of 28 percent while bikes above 350 cc attract an additional cess of 3 percent over and above the tax of 28 percent (effective 31 percent). Effective 1st July 2017, bikes like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Bullet 350 UCE, Bullet Electra and Thunderbird 350 have seen a marginal price hike of up to INR 48 (on-road) while the ex-showroom price is reduced by up to INR 91. The price hike is a result of increase in bike registration costs and insurance. On the other hand, bikes like Royal Enfield Classic 500, Bullet 500, Himalayan, Thunderbird 500 and the Continental GT have received a substantial price hike of up to INR 4399 (on road).
The Royal Enfield Himalayan has received the highest price hike of INR 3,819 ex-showroom (INR 4,399, on road), while the Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 prices are increased by INR 3,759 (ex-showroom). Furthermore, prices of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 have been increased by INR 2,799, Desert Storm by INR 2,953 and Classic 500 Chrome are increased by INR 2,876 while the Thunderbird 500 has seen a price hike of INR 2,782 along with the Bullet 500 with a price hike of INR 2,429 (all prices ex-showroom).
