New Royal Enfield Classic 350 India launch soon

The new Royal Enfield Classic 350 will be powered by Meteor 350's air-cooled engine that is capable of delivering around 20 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. The bike will also get Tripper navigation system.

Royal Enfield, while launching Meteor 350 last year, had announced that it will launch a raft of new motorcycles in India. The company's product offensive will start this year and the Chennai-based brand already has several motorcycles in the pipeline. Based on test mules spotted and industry reports, Royal Enfield is working on three new bikes based on 650 cc twins. Besides this, the company is also working on some new 350 cc motorcycles, including the all-new RE Classic 350. The 350 has been one of the best-selling Royal Enfield bikes in the country and has a wide fan base. However, the Classic is in dire need of a refresh to keep it relevant, especially in comparison to the new rivals like Jawa Forty Two and Jawa Classic. The new generation RE Classic 350 has been spotted testing its mettle on Indian roads several times and the word on the street is that it could go on sale in India next month. This doesn't surprise us considering that the last test mule suggested that the bike was on the verge of entering production.

The new generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 will be underpinned by Meteor 350's platform and will also use the latter's engine. It is a new 349 cc, air-cooled engine that is capable of delivering around 20 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. This powerplant is offered in combination with a five-speed gearbox. The suspension setup on the motorcycle is expected to be improved as compared to the outgoing predecessor that uses 35 mm front forks and twin hydraulic shock absorbers with a 5-step adjustable preload. We expect the front forks to get beefier and offer improved ride quality.

The upcoming RE Classic 350 will not stray far away from the quintessential retro styling that the bike has come to be associated it. However, the company will definitely introduce some new colour schemes on the motorcycle along with some minor cosmetic changes. A major change, however, will be with regards to the features. The new RE Classic 350 will get a semi-digital instrument cluster instead of the existing analogue unit. The top-end variant of the motorcycle will also get Tripper system that connects with a smartphone via Bluetooth to show turn-by-turn navigation.
